Energy
I play energy denial/burn a lot, and sometimes its a little annoying to not know exactly what effect im having. obviously, if they aint casting im doing my job (and some would say its the 'advancedness' of mesmer), but i sometimes get disconcerted that theyre just standing there being bored, and actually have some kind of energy. Obviously, you cant go around broadcasting what energy they have, to easy to exploit, they dont do that with health, but what they do do is show how much damage you do.
How about a little number to show how much energy you took/burnt/stole whatever. So if you do an energy drain and you only get -9 you know what to expect. I dont think it would be imbalancing, but itd make my life easier

If I am doing some energy denial, especially on bosses, I know that I am having an effect when a monk boss can only cast Orison of Healing. Basically I can tell when certain skills aren't being used anymore or they aren't using skills at all.
You know that you've sucked the energy from Glint when it can't pull off Crystal Hibernation, or even try before it gets interrupted.

Instead of energy drain...how about powerblock + drain. You know you shut down more than half their skills with the block, and if you drain them of the rest, you know they can't do anything.

I know how to look for the effects, but as i said its a bit hack and slash and you could be wrong. The numbers just give a bit of backbone to it.

Some of the skills SORT of tell your this already; with Energy Burn, it only does damage if the target has energy to burn. Similar with Energy Tap.
You have to be paying attention to see that it didn't hit for the maximum amount, but it's one way to know you should switch targets for a minute, or whatnot.
